The light reflected

The light reflected
You are so right, Britt-Arnhild. The world is full of surprizes if we only know how to look.

To remember when summer leaves

Today being warm and the sun making the landscape look honeycoated, I wanted to take a short road trip. Family not enthusiastic as is their way. So I took my camera, a book and the Sunday newspaper crossword outside. I enjoyed it very much and found the time amusing ( my neighbor's goats escaped and were frolicking in my driveway) and extremely relaxing.
I live on a short, one lane road and currently wildflowers border the sides.

Silver trees across from my house. A sideways spring rain is now visiting. I can hear frogs croaking in the shower. By tomorrow morning we will surely be greeted by tiny buds.

I am so ready for warm weather.

SNOOP (our local spay and neuter charity) is in the running for a grant from Pepsi. This is the biggest opportunity we have ever had to help with the suffering of unwanted animals. We are begging and pleading (as we always seem to be doing) trying to get votes for our project. Can we prevail against the odds of the 1,000 others we are competing against?
The photo is of Wee Willie. We found her after someone abandoned her and she was nothing but a skeleton, so weak she couldn't eat or drink. We didn't think she would live through the night, but her will to live gladly proved us wrong. She is now strong and beautiful. Too many others only suffer before dying which is why we hope with all our hearts we can get the grant, but we've been disappointed so many times before.

Can't trust anyone

With real enthusiasm I planted SugarSnap (eat the whole pea) peas two weeks ago in the enclosed, gated area of the front yard. Every day for two weeks I've looked at the bare, muddy dirt. Yesterday, little green sprouts all in a row! I rejoice, hopping up and down in an interpretative dance called "Productivity is Mine". Stopped in to admire them early this morning on my way to get the newspaper from the box. No, oh no. The gate was standing open. I rushed in dreading what I would find. I knew it, I knew it. Huge doggy pawprints everywhere. Pea sprouts trampled and dug up. The dogs swore they didn't do it but I know they are liars.

Special Time

Outdoors again. On this particular walk, I felt the peace I had been seeking. Golden leaves swirled down around me in a warm wind. We kicked through the dry leaves as if we were 5 year olds.

I walk 3 days per week with two friends at this park about 4 miles from my house. Early in October the morning mist rising off the lake makes for exceptional beauty.
